EMIA STANDS FOR EXPORT MARKETING AND INVESTMENT ASSISTANCE

EMIA stands for Export Marketing and Investment Assistance and this is a incentive scheme introduced and administered by The DTI. The purpose of assistance under the EMlA scheme is to partially compensate exporters for costs incurred in respect of activities aimed at developing export markets for South African products and services abroad, and to recruit new foreign direct investment and potential customers into South Africa. No EMIA incentives are available for the period from 10 December up to and including 10 January of each year.

The EMIA offerings include: • National Pavilions; • Outward-Selling Trade Missions; • Outward Investment Recruitment Missions; • Inward-Buying Trade Missions; • Inward Investment Missions; • Emerging Exporters; • Primary Export Market Research and Foreign Direct Investment Research Scheme; • Individual Inward-Bound Mission; • Individual Exhibitions and In-store Promotions; and • Sector-Specific Assistance Schemes
